Your blood may offer many clues about your heart health. Here's a look at some of the blood tests used to diagnose and manage heart disease.
This noninvasive exam uses sound waves to create detailed images of the heart in motion. It shows how blood moves through the heart and heart valves. An echocardiogram can help determine if a valve is narrowed or leaking
The ETT is used to evaluate the adequacy of blood supply to the heart during exercise. It is especially helpful in patients without known heart disease who are having chest pain.
A coronary angiogram is a procedure that uses X-ray imaging to see your heart's blood vessels. The test is generally done to see if there's a restriction in blood flow going to the heart.
If you can’t exercise on a treadmill for a stress test, your healthcare provider may suggest a dobutamine stress echocardiogram. During this test, a medication called dobutamine helps create a state of “stress” in your heart, similar to exercise. As your heart rate increases, your provider uses an echocardiogram to take images
A Holter monitor is a small, wearable device that records the heart's rhythm. It's used to detect or determine the risk of irregular heartbeats
